Through the YESS Program we will get to learn different cultural values and beliefs and also ways to survive in different environments.
And the beautiful thing about it is that we get to learn while having fun.

It is a new year. Let us recognize 10 International Days that WAGGGS celebrates each year
2015 is a historical year – a year to step
up our efforts in the last run up to the Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs) deadline, and an opportunity for transformational change, when
the world will adopt the post-2015 development agenda to replace MDGs.

years ago, the Millennium Development Goals articulated a bold vision
and a promise to free people from extreme poverty. We, as the leading
movement for girls and young women, committed to working on the MDGs in
2008 by introducing our Global Action Theme focusing on the MDGs: ‘girls
worldwide say, “together we can change the world”'. Ever since then,
our Movement has worked tirelessly to help achieve the MDGs, through
innovating projects, non-formal education programmes, and community and
advocacy work.
With less than one year left until the MDG deadline
at the end of 2015 and the end date of our Global Action Theme, we are
calling on you to step up your efforts with the MDGs! We hope that you
will come together to scale up your work on MDGs, share messages of
achievement and encourage decision-makers that more needs to be done.
In 2015, we will be celebrating the International Days recognised by the United Nations that are relevant to the MDGs.

2015 has been a
brilliant year for WAGGGS and we’d like to take this opportunity to
thank each and every one of you for your hard work, dedication and
enthusiasm to making the Girl Guide and Girl Scout experience so
amazing.

2015 Highlights
We’re delighted to have
reached millions of girls throughout our programmes, events and
workshops this year - here are some of the best bits!
On
1 January, WAGGGS became one of the first charities to adopt the new
Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) status, a legal structure
unique to charities.
WAGGGS
launched the Take Action backpack for the last year of the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs). Since 2008, over 100 Member Organizations and
four million young women have taken action to achieve the goals.
On
22 February, thousands of members across the globe celebrated World
Thinking Day. From sunrise in Kiribati to sunset in the Cook Islands,
Girl Guides and Girl Scouts shared their #GuidingLight, which reached approximately 600,000 people through social media.

For the first time we held a second World Board Meeting in one year. Members of the sub-committees also attended.

Region Committees
The five WAGGGS Region Committees held their meetings with a focus on growth.
In
the aftermath of the Nepal Earthquake, thousands of Girl Guides, Girl
Scouts and Boy Scouts provided rescue and relief efforts. They helped
to rescue more than 500 people and provided 200 tents, along with food,
shelter and water.

Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from Africa and Europe went to Zambia for
the second of four regionally-focused ‘training the trainer’ ACTIVATE
events supported by Zonta International.
Free Being Me training, South Africa
In collaboration with Dove, 26 participants from 14 Member Organizations took part in the Free Being Me #PreparedtoLearn training in South Africa.
The
World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and the World
Organization of the Scout Movement Consultative Committee met to discuss
strategies on growth, youth empowerment and opportunities for
cooperation.
WAGGGS
launched the World Thinking Day 2016 pack earlier than normal after
feedback that Member Organizations wanted it earlier to allow for
translation and programme planning time.
A
14-strong team represented WAGGGS at the World Scout Jamboree in Japan,
providing Free Being Me and Stop the Violence Activities for thousands
of young people.
82
participants came together for a fun-filled Free Being Me experience on
the camp grounds of Sangam World Centre. Along with boosting their own
body confidence, they spread the Free Being Me message to 150 girls and
boys in a community action project.
Continuing
our work with the Africa Region on strengthening the Girl Experience,
the Fifth World Centre travelled to Benin to work with 29 leaders from
14 French speaking Member Organizations.
Three WAGGGS delegates attended the 70th
Session of the United Nations General Assembly to prioritise girls’
needs and to involve girls as agents of change for the Global Goals on
Sustainable Development.
On this year’s International Day of the Girl, we launched our 10 Million Voices programme, to be used with WAGGGS members of all ages and to introduce the new Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
The 122nd
meeting of the WAGGGS World Board took place in London. WAGGGS
officially committed to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals and
to focusing on quality membership growth.
With
122 participants from across the world, this event offered the chance
for Member Organizations to engage with each other, and share best
practices on membership growth.
For this year's 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, thousands of members made a noise for our #GirlsAreValuable campaign and turned their social media profiles orange to symbolise a bright future free from violence.
WAGGGS
sent a delegation of young women to the official UN talks on climate
change in Paris, where they advocated for the rights of girls and young
women across the world.
Information on the WAGGGS YESS (YOUTH EXCHANGE SOUTH to
SOUTH) GIRLS MOVEMENT.
This is a 6 to 8 month exposure opportunity for Young Leaders (girls
aged 18-25 years) from different Member Organisations in WAGGGS to
participate in an exchange programme sponsored by FK Norway, a Norwegian
Government agency.
-Are you a young woman between 18 – 25 years of age? -Do you like to travel, learn from and share your knowledge with others?
-Would you like to brush up on your leadership, communication and
organisational skills as well as undergo personal development? -Have you been a member of the Tanzania Girl Guides Association for more than three months?
If your answers are all YES then the YESS Girls Movement is a great opportunity for you!

On the 11th of July,2015. TGGA and SFO (TANZANIA ASSOCIATION OF
GIRL GUIDES and STUDENTS FRIENDS OF ORPHANS) visited Bethsaida orphanage
at Mbezi Mwisho. The orphanage has about 140 orphans, age ranging
from 13-22 years only girls. It is actually opharns school, since the
girls are all attending school within the premise.
They are very
cheerful, intelligent and very welcoming young ladies. They taught us a
song with a powerful message about happiness and we taught them "funky
chicken".
It was such a powerful event to TGGA as the young girls
were encouraged and motivated as well as received material support
especially food and cleanliness materials. We also promised To visit
again and again since All the Young ladies there are Girl Guides
members.

Tanzanian girl guides association (TGGA) leaders met where the main agenda was to inform and explain to girls about the YESS GIRL MOVEMENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM.
Whereas different girls from nine countries in Africa including Tanzania will participate in the exchange program.
A Tanzanian girl will go to any of the nine countries that are Kenya, Madagascar,Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Africa,Zimbabwe and Zambia under the sponsorship of FK Norway and stay in that country for 6 (six) months starting from mid January to mid July.
At that period of time the Tanzania girl guide will be learning about the culture and the whole girl guides context of that country through interacting, education , volunteering and most importantly through having fun. As in girl guides learning can also be fun.
Any girl guide of 18-25 years old can apply, through the means of application that will be provided to you through the TGGA social media and also in meetings. (So make sure you attend them, it could be you going on the exchange program)
What are the CRITERIA for some one to be able to apply for the program?
1. Age: 18 - 25 years old.
2.Availability during that period of January to July.
3. Motivated
4. A good ambassador
5.Confidence
6. Team worker
7. Passionate and friendly
9. A good culture adapter
10.Respect towards oneself and other people
11. Healthy
12. Be able to share what you have learn once you come back
Most importantly
1. You should be an active girl guide
2.Represent your country well and learn from other countries.
3.Willingness to work with TGGA hand in hand and share your experience.
