As said and we
believe "ones a girl guide, always a girl guide." I am a Girl Guide
medical student and this year's General Assembly for the Tanzania
Medical Student Association had an invitation for me!
Guess
what?.. The Theme for the GA was "Role of Medical Students in Gender
Equality." Therefore, I was invited to present on what WAGGGS is doing
on Gender Equality through it's various MO's across the 5 Regions in the
World.
It was a
powerful experience having to explain to both male and female delegates
the positive impact that WAGGGS has been bringing to the World over the
past 100+ years.
The sharing opened more ways which both genders can
take actions in Advocacy, support and policy making in playing a role in
reaching planet 50-50 by 2030. It also brought to reality that there are ways to be a member of the society and to contribute positively
apart from being a Medical student, and this way for me is to be a Girl
Guide.
As a matter of fact being a Girl Guide and Medical student has made
me way better in many ways especially in teaching and giving me
opportunities to get involved with my society in a broad and diverse ways both social-economical and cultural aspects. All these aspects of the
society affects the health sector in a complex way.
